Hannibal's 2nd Day of STAR Class

Hannibal had his second STAR class today. Of course I am his Mommy and thinks he is perfect...but he pretty much is. HA! Today we worked on getting them to sit and lay beside you, along with heel. I am the true training class dork. I have everything you can think of snapped to my side. I have the treat bag, a water bag, a poopie bag holder, an extra collar, and a toy. These are all things the trainer suggested we need, but I believe I am the only one dorky enough to bring them ALL. I, obviously, like to be prepared. HA!

I took him to PetsMart beforehand and I weighed him. Tomorrow he will be 24 weeks old and he weighed in today at exactly 65 pounds.

Well...my baby is getting huge. He is getting a little too heavy for me pick up now. He is doing great with his learning. We are working on STAY now.

I am so thankful to have the help of the breeder. I have emailed her about once a week since I got Hannibal and she has been great. She still has some pups available if anyone is interested. I know that everyone loves Hannibal.

Here are some more recent pics.
You can tell how big he is getting.

Hannibal's 2nd Day of Class

Hannibal had his 2nd day of class today. We worked on heal, sit, and play time. He is doing very well. The teacher used him again as an example...since he is so stinking smart. He played well with the other dogs and got along with everyone there. He especially liked this female lab. After about 10 minutes of running around we had to call them back to us and have them sit. Hannibal decided that he was done. He laid down and would not get up. HA! The next time we let them go to play, Hannibal just laid there while the other dogs walked and jumped on him. It was adorable since he is double and triple the size of the other dogs. After we got them back on the leashes, which wasn't hard for me, she went over various questions people had. Hannibal proceeded to snore and fart throughout the rest of the class. This little old lady next to me kept going "shew". I felt so bad, but he was sleepy and he is always gassy.
He is getting so big. I don't realize how much until I see the picture of him the day I brought him home. I need to weigh him. UGH! I have to teach this big boy to get up in my truck by himself. He is killing my back. I guess since he isn't helping me that much, I am going to try teaching him to jump into the back. There is plenty of room for him back there, and may be safer than the front seat anyway.
We don't have class next week, they are having orientation, but it will pick back up the week after.

Hannibal's First Day of Class

Hannibal started his puppy training classes today. It was really just a lot of pups playing around, socializing, and doing some agility training. He is doing well with sit and this week I am supposed to work on "here" and "sit" so he will do it on first command. I was so nervous that he would be the worst kid in class and he was actually the best. The other dogs were trying to run around, barking, and fighting. Hannibal was good and sat by me the whole time, until we were supposed to get up.

This was the ride home. It's quite obvious he was a sleepy baby.

By the time we got home, he wanted to eat and sleep.

I believe after this round of classes, we are going to do the Emergency Recall class and then maybe the Therapy dog classes. He is going to be the best baby ever.

Thursday, March 26th

Oh my sweet baby...

Showing Aunt Kelly some love after she brought him some presents

He's not going to be able to fit in laps much longer.

This is Hannibal playing with one of the toys Aunt Kelly brought him.

Poor pitiful thing....it's such a rough life. He was so worn out after playing all night.

Monday, March 23rd

Hannibal is very adjusted and like 99.0009% house trained. He is doing very well. He got his last set of shots Saturday and then we went to visit family. My Mom adores him. She calls me and asks when I am bringing her Grandson over for a visit. Ha!

He has been somewhere new just about every day and has done great. He hasn't been introduced to all of the normal dogs. But, he has a couple and so far so good. He loves to run, for about 5 minutes and then he needs a nap. He's just a sleepy baby boy. I sure wish he could jump up in the car though. Man is he getting heavy. But, with the BRB it might be a while before he can completely jump up in there. That might be something I can have the trainer address. Since he is in and out of the car about 3 times a day, it would be good if he could do it on his own so that I don't get a hernia.

His poor ears...I think they are as good as they are going to get. I have been massaging them and I just think they are perfect the way they are. I am not looking for show quality or anything. So, it doesn't make that big of a difference to me.

Well, I will most likely post some more pics of this weekend when he was around a couple of my friends tomorrow.

Friday, March 20th

I am taking Hannibal to the park multiple times a day now. He seems to love it. It's the closest place I can take him and not have to worry about keeping him on a leash. He is doing wonderful. He listens very well, he is hilarious to watch, and he loves his Mama. The funniest thing is to watch him lay down. He kind of slides down head first. I took him to PetsMart on Wednesday and he was great. A little yapping dog was acting obnoxious and Hannibal didn't even give him a second look.

I took the posts out of his ears last night. Other than having sticky tape glue in his hair, they look great. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the sticky stuff out?

He starts training at Play Dog Excellent Tuesday, March 24th. I am very confident that he will be the best pup there. He is already so good at walking on a leash and sitting whenever I come to a stop. I have remembered some of the leash training from when I took Louie, but definitely need a refresher course. He is almost 100% house trained. This morning before I left for work I told him to get into his crate...and he did. He is pretty much a genius dog.

See the pics below from the park. They aren't the greatest res since they were taken with a phone.
